Foodies Festival Brighton – Guest Post

Over the bank holiday weekend, thousands of people descended onto Hove Lawns for the 2018 Foodies Festival. With the chance to watch top chefs, take part in cooking masterclasses, and eat some of the finest foods around, the Foodies Festival is always one for the Brighton spring calendar. Annoyingly I couldn’t make it to the festival, but my pal Jenny reviewed it for me! Here’s what she got up to…

This year, the weather was glorious, making the festival the perfect place to relax with a Pimms and browse the incredible food and drink on offer.

IMG_0990 (1)There was an array of stalls selling charcuterie, cheese, sweets and chocolate. Some of the highlights included flavoured fizz, herbal teas, cakes and a great selection of gin. We also tried gluten-free Indian food and spoke to the owner of an amazing chilli sauce.

The feast of samples was brilliant and it was great to hear the stories behind the food and drink and how they were crafted and produced.

To shade from the sun we popped into the Cake & Bake Theatre to watch Grace Hall bake a naughty vegan cake. We also caught Alun Sperring from The Chilli Pickle cooking up a storm in the Chef’s Theatre.

It would have been really easy to spend all day (and all of our money) tasting a cocktail from every bar, eating a meal from every food stall AND take home all the cheese. So, we settled for amazing arancini from Humble Pie to eat on the beach. My butternut squash arancini was like nothing I’d tasted before – the sweetness of the squash against the rich cheese and rice was the perfect treat.

Thanks to Jenny for being my first guest post on this blog! Find her on Instagram here.
