Meals in Minutes with Mob Kitchen and Samsung*

I was invited to review this event but all opinions are my own. 

I’m a big Mob Kitchen Fan – we’ve had their book since it first came out and cook at least one of their recipes pretty much once a week! So I was SUPER excited to be invited to Brighton Cookery School for a cooking session with Mob Kitchen and to test the new #GalaxyS10 camera.

Mob Kitchen are all about fast, tasty food but at a low cost – each and every one of their meals comes in at £10 and feeds four. The dream. Brighton is pretty well known for its vegan cuisine so OF COURSE we made vegan dishes. First up, Bhel Puri. I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never had it before or even heard of it, but it’s basically a super tasty Indian salad. It’s full of deeelicious fresh ingredients and packed full of flavour.


The chilli gave it a kick, but the mango chutney kept it sweet and tangy. Garnished with mint and with poppadum’s on the side, it was absolutely bangin. It made LOADS too – enough for us both to take it to work the following day for lunch. So tasty, feels quite healthy and super speedy to whip up. What more could you want?! The recipe is here if you want to try it out:

  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1/2 lime
  • 3 cups puffed rice
  • 3 teaspoons tamarind paste
  • 3 teaspoons mango chutney
  • Handful of almonds
  • Mint
  • Coriander
  • 1 chilli
  • 2 spoonful’s of pomegranate seeds

Whilst my partner was whipping it up, I was testing the Galaxy camera. I’m pretty loyal to my Pixel 3, but I have to admit the food setting on the Samsung camera took some pretty ace shots.


Next up, we made vegan brownies. No baking, minimal mess, minimal effort, again, THE DREAM! After removing the stones from the dates, you have to kind of squish them until they form a big sticky ball… sounds gross, tastes delicious. Next, you add a bunch of dry ingredients like nuts, coconut and cocoa powder and… done. Seriously, that’s IT. These little balls of energy pack a PUNCH with flavour but make an excellent afternoon pick me up. I will absolutely be making them to take to work for that 4pm slump I always seem to hit.


The recipe for those is:

  • 3 dates
  • 3/4 cup crushed walnuts
  • 3/4 cup crushed almonds
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • A handful of goji berries
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Rose petals to make it look faaaancy
  • Orange zest for a chocolate orange flavour


I’m not the best at food presentation, but the Galaxy camera somehow made my snaps look preeeeeetty nonetheless! Thanks so much to Samsung and Mob Kitchen for having me – *I was invited but all love of the food and camera reviews are my own.
