I’m a big Bison Beer fan and have been ever since I moved to Brighton, so I was suuuper excited when they opened a new location and added a Humble Plates menu to their offerings.
Humble Plates have pop-ups, kitchens and catering at a few different locations. The food champions local ingredients but takes inspiration from all corners of the world.
I headed to Bison with my sites set on a burger. I’m a burger gal through and through and I was expecting big things from the Humble Burger. It’s a dry-aged beef patty, beef fat mayo, smoked applewood cheese, bone marrow and garlic butter, red onion jam and pickles. Holy. Shit. Balls.
Smoked applewood is my ALL TIME favourite cheese and the combination of the red onion jam, beef fat mayo and garlic butter was DIVINE. I hate a dry burger but this one is juicy and deeeelicious. It’s so juicy it runs down your arms which really, in my opinion, is the mark of a good burger!!
It comes on a brioche bun which almost looks like a pretzel. It’s seriously seriously good. Alongside the burger, I had the fries which were crispy and crunchy. The fries are salty which combines really well with the sweetness from the red onion jam in the burger. It’s an absolutely delicious plate of food that I can’t wait to try again. Especially as they have a lunchtime offer – a burger and fries for £8.95. BARGAIN.
Looking at the menu to write this post has got me DROOLING over the tacos and small plates. The lamb shoulder tacos and the crispy hoisin cauliflower caught my eye in particular. I’m heading back ASAP to try the rest of the menu and I must insist you do the same.
