Cin Cin Review – OctoberBEST

Brighton’s October Best is in its fourth year, and I’m ashamed to say this is the first time I’ve got involved!

Every year, it runs for a few weeks in October. It was established in 2015 to celebrate Brighton’s dynamic restaurant scene. It aims to bring attention to new and long-standing places to eat. The top 27 restaurants in the city are putting together special £20 menus or offers that celebrate Brighton’s diverse independent dining scene.

I knew as soon as I saw the name of the Cin Cin deal that I had to try it. The “Bollocks to Brexit” sharing starter. Oh yes. Cin Cin says:

“We think Brexit is bollocks, so before the M20 queues and food shortages hit, join us this OctoberBEST for our sharing starter for two. Celebrate fine Italian produce while it lasts!”

LOVE. I immediately booked and I could not waaaaait try the tasting board. I went on a Saturday lunch time and it was the perfect light lunch. I’ve never been to Cin Cin before as if I’m honest, it’s a little out of my price range. That’s what I think is amazing about this October Best offer – you get to have a little taster of what it’s like to eat there, but with a much more affordable price tag. The tasting board included:

Truffle mushroom arancini

This was my absolute FAVOURITE! I’m a big arancini fan and honestly, I think this is the best I’ve ever tasted. The sauce was really strong and full of flavour, which went well with the creamy arancini. 10/10.

Crostini of Taleggio and pear mostarda

Wooow. This pear was something ELSE! I honestly thought it was meat or fish at first because of the texture. It’s incredible. It goes so well with the cheese – sweet but not overwhelmingly.

Sardinian wild boar salami canapés with salsa verde

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten wild boar before, but I would absolutely eat it again! These canapés have the perfect chewy, crunchy combo with a tasty flavour from the salsa.

Finocchiona and speck

Delicious meats. What more can I say?! 😉

Aged Parmesan and Sardinian Pecorino

Delicious cheeses, what more can I say?! One thing I do remember is our lovely server told us parmesan is actually supposed to be eaten in blocks like this, rather than grated, because it means you get the grains of salt. You learn something new every day.

Pickled Borettane onions and semi sun-dried tomatoes

These onions are AMAZING and the sun-dried tomatoes went well with the cheeses and meats. Yum.

I had a glass of the house white and my partner had a glass of the house red, so in total with a tip this cost us £30. I’m really happy we booked it and got a taster of what eating at Cin Cin is like. I’d definitely like to go back for a full meal on a special occasion. The October Best offer made it affordable which I think is ace.
