Easy Tiger Brighton Review

The Pond is one of my all time faaaavourite places to eat and drink in Brighton. When I heard they were opening a new venture, literally around the corner from where I live, I was SOOO excited. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to go and try the food!

Similar to The Pond, Easy Tiger has a really great selection of beers with Northern Monk, Deya and more on tap. The food is Indian street from ex Curry Leaf Cafe chef Kanthi Kiran Thamma.

I’m not the best with spice so if I’m honest, I was a little nervous about the food. I went for a Kozhikode Moplah Biriyani, which is a “Persian influenced Biriyani from the Malabar coast of Kerala”. It had chicken thighs cooked along with rice, raisins and cashew nuts and comes with appalam, pickle and raita.

Holy. Shit. Just look at how banging this plate of food looks! 100% top marks for presentation. The Biriyani is absolutely packed with flavour and I did find it quite spicy – but in a good way. It tasted like spice for the sake of flavour rather than spice for the sake of heat… if that makes any sense?! It was the perfect portion size and I loved the mixing the dips with the chicken.

My partner went for the Keralan Fried Chicken, Masala Chips and Gobi Manchurian. The chicken was insanely good – crispy and fried with a deeelicious flavour. Excellent combined with the Gobi Manchurian, which is crisp friend cauliflower in a soy, ginger, garlic, chilli and spring onion sauce. My mouth is watering remembering how good this stuff tasted.

Easy Tiger has quite a chilled vibe – we went on a Saturday night and it was the right amount of busy in that we could get a seat, but it still had a good atmosphere. It’s got a great pub garden that I can’t wait to chill in this summer, and any pub that has boardgames, specifically Scrabble, is a winner in my eyes. I already want to go back and try more from the menu.
