Giu and Su is on Church Street right by the North Laine and is a café and deli with an amazing range of coffee, homemade treats, crusty baguettes, salads, charcuterie, cheese and wine. Literally, what more could you want in a sentence?!
Everything is prepared daily and uses local suppliers. It’s got a really friendly and warm atmosphere straight away when you walk in – there’s a sofa area, lots of tables and the décor is SO nice. Lots of paintings and quirky pieces of art, it’s kind of like hanging out at someone’s well decorated home haha.
A colleague of mine is a big fan of Giu and Su and recommended I try their lunch offer on Wriggle*. The offer is £5.50* and you get a loaded baguette, panini or sandwich and a drink. I decided to go for it as a Friday treat. I was not disappointed. I had the Caesar baguette which is on a crusty French baguette and has: breaded chicken, fresh salad, parmesan, caramelised onions and a homemade bacony mayo that is TO DIE FOR. It was absolutely delicious – it was full to the brim with chicken and I really felt like it was good value for money.
I had a San Pelligrino alongside which made for the perfect lunch. It was filling, full of flavour and I liked that you can see them making your sandwich – so you know it’s all handmade.
I liked the atmosphere in there SO MUCH that I ended up having a coffee and a pastry too! I had a mocha which was delicious and a pistachio pastry. It was DIVINE. Crunchy, flaky pastry with a smooth nutty filling – it was honestly heavenly.
I really want to go back when I’m not on my lunch break so I can try some of the wine they have, as well as the other sandwich options. I absolutely loved spending time in there and I found it so warm and friendly. I will absolutely be going back!
